We were approached by The Dover Post to do an interview about our upcoming show this Friday at Leone’s Loockerman Exchange. The questions are fielded by none other than Unlocked’s own Chuk & Bill.

Q The band’s inspirations include Nine Inch Nails, Tool, Mudvayne and Thrice. What is it about these groups that inspire you?
A Chuk: Oh man, I don’t even know where to start. OK, here goes nothing. Anything you have ever seen or have ever heard, whether you like it or not, is going to inspire or influence you in some way, shape, or form. I’m not sure where I get most of these ideas to write the songs that I do because that, compared to the music that I choose to listen to, you wouldn’t find too many connections.
Q The band’s sound is hard to categorize; how would you explain it?
Bill: I wouldn’t. We are a collection of different experiences, emotions and backgrounds. while our taste is similar in some musical areas we each represent our own individuality brought together in the creative ideal that is Unlocked.
Q What are we going to hear when you play Dover Jan. 28? Covers? Originals? Both?
A Chuk: Sleazy guitar solos and a bunch of feedback. Nah, just kidding. I won’t really know till after this Sunday, but I believe we have at least one new song and I’m sure you can expect at least one cover.
Q Do you ever feel compelled to play more mainstream music, or do you find there’s an audience for your style wherever you go?
A Bill: When we first started playing together, I didn’t think most listeners (outside of our friends) would be accepting of us without changing to a more common formula. But playing in front of cheering crowds that never heard us before quickly changed my concern.
Q What separates Unlocked from other bands?
A Bill: I think we have some unique material that is different than what you may have heard before and we’re ever growing to create a memorable live experience.
Q What musicians are inspiring you currently?
A Chuk: Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Rasputina, Tricky, Bjork, Massive Attack, Aphex Twin, Eminem, Sleigh Bells, Bassnectar, Kiss, Martina Topley Bird, Queens of the Stone Age, Peeping Tom, The Beatles, Phil Collins, Puscifer, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.
Bill: My biggest musical inspirations are Kenna, Thrice, Tool and Victor Wooten. What I’ve been listening to recently is The Mars Volta, Ephel Duath and Underoath.
